Getting Started with DVD TradesDVD Trades is a completely free service that helps people in their own communities to trade legitimate DVDs, movies, CDs, games and software amongst themselves. There is no charge to use DVD Trades. Costs to run DVD Trades are alleviated through advertising.Registering with DVD TradesBefore you can start trading you must register with DVD Trades. To register click the Login link in the Members section of the left column. Then click the Register link. This will bring you to the Agreement page. Read the agreement and them press the I Agree button if you agree to be bound to the legal agreement for using DVD Trades. The Registration page will now appear. Fill in the fields and press the Register button. Remember to fill in all the fields with a red star (*) beside them, these are required fields. Enter the City and Community fields exactly as they would appear on a map. After pressing the Register button and all required fields have been entered you will be registered with DVD Trades.Adding your itemsThe next step is to enter all your items you would like to trade with other DVD Trade members. To add items click the Add an item link in the Members section of the left column. The Add Item screen will appear. Enter the item title exactly as it is spelled. Then select the type of item and the condition it is in. If you are willing to also sell the item you can enter a selling price as well. Press the Add button to add it to your list of items. Continue this process until all your items have been entered.Searching for items to tradeTo search for items to trade select the Search link the General section of the left column. The Search page will appear. Here you can enter search criteria to find items for trade. Usually people will only search for items in their own city and community but you can search by item title as well. Enter the City and Community fields exactly as they would appear on a map. Press the Search button to show all the items matching the criteria you have entered. A list of all matching items will appear. Press the icon in the Read review column to see a review for the item. Only mainstream movies will have reviews available. Press the icon in the View Item column to show details for an item. In the Item Information page you can click on the owner's member ID to see details about them. If you click on the member's postal code a map will appear showing you where in the city they live. Click your browser's back button to return to the search results page. Click the "Show other titles" link to see all the other titles this member has up for trade. Click the "Request trade" link to setup a trade with this member.Setting up a tradeTrade requests can be made from the Item information page by clicking the "Request trade" link or from the member item list page by clicking the icon in the Trade column for the item. An email will be sent to the member of the item telling them you are interested in trading. A link to your list of items will be sent as well. If they are interesting in trading they can phone you using the number in your member information page. |
